Sent North March 64 to the hospital. Discharged 1 Aug 64 on Surgeon's Certificate due to double fistula at Newark, NJ USA hospital. Died 9 Jan 1865 of Tubercular Phthusis in Greenup Co., KY. Doctor's report states that the disease existed prior to enlisted and should not have been enlisted. When application for invalid pension was made by Patrick, he stated that he received a gunshot wound at Kinston, NC. Pension was denied. Detached as Provost Guard at Fortress Monroe. On 7 Feb 63, as member Provost Guard, with another guard, he received a lost purse with $23 and papers inside. They did not place it in the Provost Guard room for the owner to claim. When asked they first denied it. Later, it was "found," minus the money. Both were arrested and tried by VII Corp Court Martial. Found Guilty. Confined at Fort Norfolk, VA for 6 months and fined $10 each month. When released, sent to Roanoke Island, NC to join Co. A. William Dunn, of Pittsburgh, was guardian for their children Elizabeth & William Doyle.
