Commissioned 20 Feb 62 o Captain.  During Nov & Dec 62 under arrest for shirking his duty and manifesting great indifference. Dismissed 20 Jan 63 by request of Commanding Officer at New Bern, NC. Left New Bern, NC on 8 Feb 63. After he returned home, he enlisted again, serving in the QM department of General Aiken's cavalry. When President Lincoln was assassinated, he was one of the guards posted at the end of the "Long Bridge" to prevent the assassin's escape. In 1875 he established a drug store in West Elizabeth, PA.
