Right hand wounded, but unclear how. Possibly twice. Dr. Rush wrote that Oliver was wounded in his right hand during the Battle of Fair Oaks, VA (31 May 62) by a piece of shell. Lieutenant Mays stated that Oliver's right hand was wounded by accidental discharge of his own weapon on the night of 20 July 62 while on Grand Guard at Harrison's Landing, VA.
